The Miraculous Healing of Sister Marie Abel Qamari

Sister Marie Abel Qamari, from Hammana, was a nun of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts.

She entered the convent in 1929 and remained in good health until 1936, when she began to suffer from severe stomach pain and would vomit everything she consumed. She was treated by several specialists, but without success. Her condition was diagnosed as a gastric ulcer. X-ray examinations later revealed that her liver, gallbladder, and kidney had become fused together into a single mass, no longer functioning properly.

She underwent two major surgeries, each lasting four hours, but the outcome was disappointing. Her suffering continued to worsen over fourteen years, leaving her body extremely weakened. She could no longer retain any nourishment and endured excruciating pain in her bones.

Her condition deteriorated further: paralysis in her right hand, difficulty walking that forced her to rely on a cane, severe dental decay, and other complications. She seemed to be nearing the end of her life.

Amid this suffering, she heard of the miracles of Charbel Makhlouf. With deep faith, she began to pray fervently, asking for his intercession. One night, he appeared to her in a dream, raising his hand in blessing.

She set out from Bikfaya to Annaya, accompanied by fellow nuns. She arrived at the monastery in a pitiful state and was carried to the tomb of Saint Charbel. The moment she touched the stone slab, she felt a current, like electricity, pass through her back. While praying at the tomb, she saw the name of Saint Charbel engraved on the stone, surrounded by glistening drops like beads of sweat. She wiped them with her handkerchief and then applied it to the place of her pain. At once, she rose and began to walk. Cries of joy and ululations filled the air, celebrating her miraculous healing.
